Gary Woodland has been married to his wife, Gabby Woodland, for nearly a decade.

While the professional golfer hasn’t shared the details about how his relationship with Gabby began, he first posted a photo of her on Instagram in 2014 — around the same time they got engaged.

The couple went on to marry two years later, and since then, Gary has called Gabby his “rock” as they’ve faced different chapters of their lives, including serious health issues. After losing a child in 2017, Gary and Gabby welcomed three children: son Jaxson and twin daughters Maddox and Lennox.

A few years later, in 2023, during an MRI, doctors discovered a lesion on Gary’s brain. He was initially prescribed seizure medication to manage symptoms before opting for surgery to have it removed. That September, the athlete’s procedure was successful, and he returned to playing in 2024.

After sharing more of his story on Netflix’s season 3 of Full Swing, which premiered on Feb. 25, he received the PGA Tour Courage, which is presented to an individual who overcame adversity to make a meaningful contribution to golf.

Though Gabby maintains a relatively private life, she appeared in the streamer’s docuseries and revealed how Gary’s health scare changed their union.

“The love that we have for each other now is one hundred times what it was a year ago,” she said. “A thousand times what it was when we got married.”

So who is Gary Woodland’s wife? Here’s everything to know about Gabby Woodland and her relationship with the professional golfer.

She attended Baylor University

Before Gary was a golf pro, he grew up in Topeka, Kans., where he attended Washburn University and the University of Kansas. While his collegiate journey was well-documented as he rose in the sport’s ranks, Gabby flew more under the radar.

Still, Gary has shared details about her life outside the spotlight, including that she was a student at Baylor University. Not long after tying the knot, the professional athlete hinted at this fact when they went to a home game at the school.

“They say marriage is about compromising so I’m glad @gabby_woodland realizes we only root for Kansas even though she went to Baylor,” he quipped on Instagram.

Though Gary and Gabby haven’t revealed how they met or when they started dating, the couple first appeared together in November 2011 at the 56th World Cup, where the athlete won with partner Matt Kuchar.

Three years later, they reportedly got engaged in early 2014, per KUSports.com.

Gary and Gabby went on to wed in October 2016 in Turks and Caicos. Their destination wedding took place at the Amanyara luxury resort, where they exchanged vows on the beach with waves crashing in the background.

“Definitely the biggest Win of my life,” Gary captioned a photo from their special day, featuring Gabby in a white dress standing under a floral arch.

The couple are parents to a boy, Jaxson, and twin girls, Maddox and Lennox.

A few months after their nuptials, Gary announced in March 2017 that he and Gabby were expecting twins. Sadly, less than a month later, the golf pro shared that they lost one of the babies after complications.

Doctors closely monitored Gabby for the rest of the pregnancy, and that same summer, she gave birth to their son Jaxon in June 2017.

“G and I are so excited to welcome Jaxson Lynn Woodland into the world. He came to us 10 weeks early kicking and screaming at 3lbs,” Gary wrote on Instagram. “G and Jax are both doing great. Thank you to all the doctors, nurses and NICU for helping take care of our little boy.”

Fast forward to August 2019, the pair announced that they had welcomed twin girls named Maddox and Lennox.

“Best part is Jax doesn’t realize our identical twin girls will be coming home soon,” Gary captioned a family photo on X.

While Gary dedicates himself to being the best out on the green, he doesn’t miss an opportunity to recognize Gabby for her support.

At his 2017 Topeka Hall of Fame induction, Gary acknowledged her, saying, “I do want to thank a couple special people in my life that are here tonight and have really helped me get to where I’m at today, and that starts with my wife who is my rock.”

He continued, “She has the responsibility now of dealing with me on a daily basis; she has to deal with my good rounds and when I’m happy and when I’m power-pouting after my bad rounds. She has to deal with that roller coaster. I can’t thank her enough; I love her to death.”

Two years later, during the 2019 U.S. Open Championship, Gary expressed gratitude to Gabby for helping raise their family while he traveled to play.

“I wouldn’t be where I am today without her, to be honest with you,” he told The Topeka Capital-Journal while acknowledging that she wanted to be there.

Now that their children are older, Gabby makes sure they are out on the field with her to support Gary. In April 2024, Gary was joined by his wife and three kids at The Masters.

In April 2023, Gary began experiencing unusual synonyms like insomnia and a feeling of panic. Still, it wasn’t until he had an MRI that he realized the severity of the situation.

The pro golfer was diagnosed with a brain lesion and was put on seizure medication as a first step. A few months later, Gary announced that he would be undergoing surgery to address it.

During a season 3 episode of Netflix’s Full Swing, Gabby opened up about the experience. “It literally came out of nowhere,” she said. “Our life was completely changed.

The mom of three previously spoke to Essentially Sports, recalling what it was like hearing the news and Gary’s concern over their family. “I just remember him going back in the bedroom to write it and him just coming out and he was just bawling,” she explained.

In September 2023, Gary’s brain lesion was successfully removed, and today, he practices meditation to help him stay grounded.
