Love Is Blind’s Kalybriah Breaks Down Fight with Edmond About Sex (Exclusive)

Love Is Blind is finally back — and there’s no shortage of drama!

On Wednesday, Oct. 1, season 9 of the Netflix hit made its debut on the streamer, introducing the newest batch of singles from Denver, Colorado, as they search for their forever love.

Two of those singles were Kalybriah “KB” Haskin and Edmond Harvey, who developed a strong connection in the pods before getting engaged sight unseen. After finally meeting in person, the two jetted off to Mexico for a getaway with the other five engaged couples.

However, things got rocky for Kalybriah, 29, and Edmond, 29, after the couples started talking about who already had sex at the group pool party. Edmond revealed to the other men that his fiancée wanted to wait until marriage, but he didn’t feel the same and wanted to be intimate before their wedding.

The realtor later addressed the matter with Kalybriah, and began sobbing over the fact that she had sex with other men but wanted to wait until marriage with him. As expected, this led to tensions between the pair and caused Kalybriah to walk out of the room.

Now, Kalybriah is breaking down their fight to PEOPLE and explaining her side of the situation.

“It was important to stand my ground about that,” she explains, noting that she went on a “healing journey” before coming on Love Is Blind. “I went in [practicing] abstinence for eight months prior to the show. So it was just like, I am in a whole different space than I might’ve been when I was a college girl … I lived in Tallahassee. I was where the fun was. So I had a ball.”

Kalybriah says she wanted to “change that perspective” so she decided to set those boundaries, but was very clear with Edmond in the pods about her intentions.

“I thought it would’ve been blindsiding to not have told him that before… because that’s what people do when they’re engaged,” she shares. “So I’m just like, ‘I want to let you know before you propose.’ He understood. He said he agreed. Well, I thought he understood.”

Once they got to Mexico, however, Kalybriah says things changed. “We’re under the influence from the pool party and you throw in my face, ‘Oh, you’ve had a one-night stand.’ Something I told you in confidence, something that might not have even been aired before you just threw it up into my face as my partner,” she explains. “It’s almost like you saying you deserve my body, and that’s not the case.”

“It gave me the ick,” adds the social worker. “But I hate the fact sometimes that I’m so understanding because I just tried to resonate with him. I’m just like, ‘Okay.’ I try not to argue. I’m like, ‘Let’s get to the bottom line here.'”

As Kalybriah tried to understand Edmond’s point of view, she says she also tried to “get him to understand” that he was not comparable to the men she had previously slept with.

“I looked at that one-night-stand person as disposable. That was a person I didn’t care about ever talking to again, which is why they were a one-time-only thing,” she explains. “For you to compare someone that I’m trying to build a life with to someone that I literally was okay with never speaking to again, I think was crazy.”

It was then, Kalybriah says, that Edmond “just burst into tears.” (In the scene during episode 6, Edmond also cried about “always” being considered “the nice guy” and being taken advantage of.)

“That’s what made me feel unsettled. Because I’m like, ‘Why are you the one crying right now?’ Like, ‘What is going on… Did I offend you by not giving you my body?’ Come on now. And so it was strange. It was weird,” she adds.

Ultimately, the social worker says she was “observing everything and just trying to take it in and embrace it,” but admits that she was also dealing with her own emotions, which led to her storming out of the room — and the couple sleeping separately that night.

“At that moment, I no longer could take it because I’m like, ‘Now you’re crying. I told you my boundaries. You’re not respecting my boundaries, and now you’re boohoo-ing. And your crying scared me because I didn’t know what you were doing,'” she recalls. “I just jumped him a little bit.”

“So I’m like, ‘Okay, let’s just call it a night.’ I slept on the balcony. He slept in the room,” she continues. “I didn’t feel like it had [caused] us to have to sleep in separate rooms or housing situations, but I definitely felt like it took for [me to say], ‘Hey, don’t come touching me. I’m going to sleep out here. You sleep over there.’ I needed some fresh air because that was a lot to take in. I was offended.”

Kalybriah also says she was upset because she felt like the situation had been flipped on her, and she had to console Edmond, despite her being the one who was hurt.

“That doesn’t make sense. That’s unfair,” she says. “And then to bring up, ‘I’m the nice guy,’ and this and that … You can’t manipulate me in that sense.”

“I didn’t bring it up once in the pod. I brought it up multiple times, at least two, three times in the pods, and he said he understood,” she adds. “And so I’m just like, ‘Are you okay with that?’ And he said yes. So I don’t know how we got there. But it was a liquor, I believe. I think the liquor just influenced that and encouraged that behavior. And he was a lot.”

Fans will see how things unfold between Kalybriah and Edmond when the next batch of episodes drops on Oct. 8. In addition to the pair, the other engaged couples include: Annie Lancaster and Nick Amato, Ali Lima and Anton Yarosh, Megan Walerius and Jordan Keltner, and Joe Ferrucci and Madison Maidenberg.

Kacie Mcintosh and Patrick Suzuki also got engaged in the pods, but called things off before the Mexico trip.
