Lady Gaga Slammed With Lawsuit Over New Album’s Logo

A legal battle is raining on Lady Gaga‘s album’s release parade!

The pop star has been slammed with a lawsuit accusing her of lifting her album cover artwork from another company without permission.

Lady Gaga’s latest album “Mayhem” was released on March 7, featuring new releases like “Disease,” “Die With A Smile,” “Abracadabra,” and many more.

Following Lost International’s decision to take legal steps, the Grammy-winning singer’s camp has now released a statement via her legal representative, Orin Snyder, to The Blast.

“Lady Gaga’s MAYHEM soared to No. 1 and shattered records, a testament to her unmatched talent and global impact,” the statement began.

Snyder described Lost International’s move as “disappointing-but hardly surprising,” noting that “someone is now attempting to capitalize on her success with a baseless lawsuit over the name MAYHEM.”

Snyder concluded, “This is nothing more than an opportunistic and meritless abuse of the legal system.”

Gaga is facing a lawsuit from a surfboard brand called Lost International, which claims she has infringed on their trademark with her new album titled “Mayhem.”

The company alleges that they have been using a stylized version of the term “Mayhem” on their surfboards and merchandise for over a decade and that Gaga’s album logo closely resembles theirs.

According to the lawsuit, Lost International has owned the “Mayhem” trademark since 2015 and asserts that Gaga is improperly using their logo without permission. They expressed that she did not cease using the logo after directly raising their concerns with her, prompting them to take legal action. 

Per TMZ, Lost International is seeking to prevent Gaga from using the logo and is requesting damages, including any profits she has derived from the logo usage.

Gaga’s album, “Mayhem”, follows her covers album “Harlequin,” which was released alongside her role as Harley Quinn in “Joker: Folie à Deux”.

She affectionately referred to “Harlequin” as “LG6.5,” a bridge between her previous work, “Chromatica”, and her seventh musical project in her interview with Elle.

During her “Gaga Chromatica Ball” film premiere in Los Angeles, she shared her creative journey, revealing, “I am in the studio every single day” and emphasizing that her new songs represent a departure from her past work. 

She described her desire to break genre boundaries: “There’s something really beautiful about knowing that you will be loved no matter what you do.” The artistic intensity she experienced during the Chromatica Ball Tour in 2022 has significantly influenced her new music.

“Mayhem’s” first single, “Disease,” was released in October, followed by the confirmed hit “Die With a Smile,” featuring Bruno Mars. Another track, “Abracadabra,” debuted on February 2 during the Grammy Awards. 

Alongside the album announcement, Gaga also introduced merchandise and alternative album covers on her website.

Gaga’s album marked her return to pop after a long break. The project was inspired by her fiancé, Polansky, who encouraged her to embrace the joy of creating pop music.

Polansky reportedly noted that during her “Chromatica” tour, he observed a spark in her that he wanted to help sustain. Gaga also expressed that this new project is a way for her to reconnect with herself.

She confessed that the chaos she thought she had moved past is still present but can be embraced positively. The singer emphasized that the album reflects the idea of accepting one’s demons rather than running from them. 

Polansky described Gaga’s creative process, emphasizing how enjoyable it was to witness her work. He noted that the album was recorded close to their home, allowing him to spend time with her in the studio. Her speed and creativity amazed him, often seeing a song take shape in just a matter of minutes.

Gaga also revealed that her new album represents a blend of her real-life self and stage persona. She emphasized celebrating this integration, representing a lovely tension between her inner softness and the intense energy she brings to her music and performances. 

The album seemingly embodies her personal chaos, where she balanced instability with a sense of peace.”Mayhem’s” closing track, “Die with a Smile,” was intended to evoke tranquility from listeners.

Among the tracks, her favorite was “Blade of Grass,” inspired by her fiancé’s proposal, while “Killa,” a collaboration with Gesaffelstein, was her favorite to create, featuring only a guitar and her voice. 

Gaga noted her choice to return to dark pop in her music journey was a safe space following a significant hiatus from that genre.

When she is not making sonorous music, the star is lending her voice to worthy causes, including endorsing politicians and canvassing support for the LGBTQ+ community.

As shared by The Blast, Gaga has been a passionate advocate for the LGBTQ+ community and marginalized groups, consistently using her platform to promote equality and inclusivity. 

She demonstrated her commitment to these causes during a significant appearance at Kamala Harris’ final campaign rally in November, where she performed in support of the Democratic presidential ticket. 

On the eve of Election Day, Gaga delivered a moving live performance at the historic “Rocky” Steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, a key location in a pivotal swing state. 

Seated at a piano, she captivated the audience with a heartfelt rendition of “God Bless America,” creating a vocally impressive performance and rich in symbolism. She also spoke passionately to the crowd about the importance of voting and the role of citizens in shaping the nation’s future.
