In 1986, Young and Restless‘s John Abbott angrily confronted Jack Abbott (Terry Lester) after learning of Jack’s affair with Jill (Brenda Dickson), John’s wife. The pair had an illicit one-night stand over two years prior when they were trapped together during a blizzard, and Lindsey Wells had secretly snapped photos, which she used to blackmail Jack and Jill. Ultimately, the photos wound up in Katherine Chancellor’s possession, and she was the one who exposed the truth to a devastated John.

In 1997, Nick and Sharon Newman (Joshua Morrow and Sharon Case) had their first child together, son Noah Newman, on Young and Restless. On a cold wintry day, pregnant Sharon had a talk with her mother-in-law, Nikki, at the main house. Sharon was walking back to her home on the Newman ranch when the mom-to-be slipped on ice and fell to the ground. As she lay unconscious, the falling snow nearly covered her body, making it difficult for her to be seen. Hours later, Nick found his wife and carried her to safety. At the hospital, Sharon recovered from hypothermia but falling on her stomach caused her to go into premature labor. She gave birth to a tiny boy. Sharon and Nick were worried sick as the wee one struggled to stay alive for several days. Fortunately, the new addition pulled through.

In 2006, Sonya Eddy made her General Hospital debut as no-nonsense but loving nurse Epiphany Johnson, for which she would posthumously win a Daytime Emmy as Outstanding Supporting Actress after her death in 2022. Jason Thompson, who played Patrick Drake, one of Epiphany’s hospital colleagues, told Soap Opera Digest in 2023 of Eddy, “She had a big laugh, she lived big, she gave big hugs and she had big care for you personally and for the work. She had incredible character. Patrick had a really special relationship with Epiphany, and so much of that had to do with the energy that Sonya brought, the big love that she brought to her work. She just had this way where she could put him in his place when he needed it and lift him up when he needed it.”

In 2020 on Days of Our Lives, Ciara (Victoria Konefal) was running out of time to stop the execution of her beloved, Ben Weston, who had been convicted of the murder of his sister, Jordan, and was determined to force a confession out of the real killer, Evan Frears (Brock Kelly). At the Kiriakis mansion, Ciara was able to get her hands on the gun Evan had been brandishing, and she ordered Evan to drive her to the prison.

In 2017 on Bold and Beautiful, Bill (Don Diamont) took Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) to the top of the Spencer building and, as she was poised to remarry Ridge again, he presented her with a sentimental gift: his sword necklace. “This sword represents me, my power. You’ll need that if you’re going to restart a life with Forrester,” he told her. “I was at my best when I was with you. I have my sons, I have my work, I have my company, and I’m proud of them. But without you, I won’t have achieved my highest goal. So every day I will look in the mirror. This will be gone, and it will be a reminder of the thing I love most in the world — and couldn’t have.”
