Jimmy Kimmel And Robert De Niro Clown FCC Chair Brendan Carr In A New Skit

The director gave viewers of the show a pleasant surprise when he appeared in a short skit, playing the role of a fictional Carr. Kimmel and De Niro engaged in a witty exchange, essentially lampooning Carr over the role he played in having the TV host removed from his show the previous week.

The scene opened with an enraged De Niro querying Kimmel for his comments while using curse words to the displeasure of Kimmel, who cautioned him about getting fined by the Federal Communications Commission.

“I am the f-cking FCC, I can say whatever the f-ck I want,” Carr declared in the scene, as Kimmel replied: “It sounds a little like threat and intimidation to me, Chairman.” “It’s just me, Jimmy, the chairman of the FCC, gently suggesting that you gently shut the f-co up,” De Niro replied.

The conversation between the duo continued with Kimmel accusing De Niro’s character of suppressing free speech, a claim the actor buttressed, noting: “ain’t free no more. We’re charging by the word now.”

De Niro and Kimmel also spoke about Donald Trump and his ongoing approach to handling criticisms targeted towards him. The Daily Mail reported that the actor rounded up his scene with a satire towards Trump’s recent remarks on Tylenol use during pregnancy and how it may cause autism.

Things got intense on the show afterwards when Kimmel became emotional as he tried explaining the intention behind his comments on Kirk’s death. The host had earlier insinuated that the late Kirk carried conservative ideologies, although his lifestyle and evidence suggested he was a left-wing enthusiast.

On the brink of tears, the media personality emphasized that he never made fun of Kirk’s death, and he did not think the unfortunate incident was anything close to being funny. Kimmel referred to his Instagram post, in which he sent his well-wishes to the Kirk family.

Kimmel added that he understands why some may have perceived his statement as coming out at the wrong time and also as very unclear. In his words: “And for those who think I did point a finger, I get why you’re upset. If the situation was reversed, there’s a good chance I’d have felt the same way.”

He praised Kirk’s wife for the noble gesture of forgiving her husband’s killer publicly and urged that people fixate on the significance of that act and not fish for controversy. The presenter was filled with appreciation for everyone who defended him, including those who shared different political views.

The Hollywood legend has not been discreet about his long-standing lack of admiration for Trump, and last year, after the president’s guilty verdict, De Niro noted that he was beyond pleased to see him get rewarded for his actions.

As noted by The Blast, Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts in his case involving paying off a sex worker to buy her silence. The event also etched Trump’s name in history as the first former United States president to face criminal charges.

He declared that the verdict was appropriate and an indication that justice had indeed been served fairly. De Niro also expressed his concerns about Trump’s growing popularity at the time, which may lead him to win the 2024 presidential election.

Kimmel noted on the Tuesday night show that his concerns about Disney, due to his return, remain high, as well as the staffers whom Trump wants to see lose their jobs alongside himself.

He then proceeded directly to the business of the day, which included a lengthy criticism of Trump and Carr’s role in contributing to job losses and even celebrating people becoming unemployed.

The Blast reported that Kimmel emphasized that the anti-government tendencies and tactics displayed by Trump and his allies do not align with the American dream.

He slammed Carr’s statements and threats, describing them as illegal and a poor attempt at displaying intelligence. Kimmel’s articulate condemnation of the duo’s actions over the past week left a fire burning in the hearts of the audience, who responded with thunderous applause.

Online, critics claimed Kimmel’s moment of reflection on the show lacked the originality of remorse; instead, it was described as a means for him to deny and deflect while avoiding responsibility.
