It sounds like “Michael Shannon, Jason Narducy & Friends Perform R.E.M.” is going to be an annual tour. Having toured Murmur in 2024 and Fables of the Reconstruction this year, they will hit the road in 2026 to perform R.E.M.’s fourth album, Lifes Rich Pageant, which turns 40 next year.

Via Stereogum, Shannon shared the news on Monday night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, saying that while details haven’t been set, everyone is in for another go-round. He was wearing a Monster t-shirt, and Jimmy said that is his favorite R.E.M. album, and tried to coerce Michael into doing that one next instead. “That would be quite a few years we’d have to keep this going,” Shannon said. Shannon also talked about getting to sing “Pretty Persuasion” with Michael Stipe in Athens and Brooklyn.

Shannon was also on Fallon to talk about his upcoming feature film directorial debut, Eric LaRue, which stars Judy Greer, Paul Sparks, Alison Pill, Tracy Letts, Annie Parisse and Alexander Skarsgård, and will be out out April 4. You can watch the whole Fallon segment, and the Eric LaRue trailer, plus a stream of Lifes Rich Pageant, below.
