In 1989, Vicky Hudson Frame (Anne Heche) gave birth to her first child, son Steven Frame, on Another World. At the time, Vicky wasn’t sure whether Jamie Frame, her husband, was the father, or if the child had been sired by her brother-in-law, Jake McKinnon, with whom she’d had a secret one-night stand. Vicky went into labor while stranded at the Frame farm during a snowstorm. Jake ended up delivering the little boy with a remote assist from Jamie, who talked him through what to do over the phone. In the end, a DNA test proved that Jamie was Steven’s bio dad.

In 1990, General Hospital‘s Monica Quartermaine learned of husband Alan Quartermaine’s (Stuart Damon) affair with Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) and demanded a divorce. Once their marriage was officially over, Alan had no choice but to marry his mistress to avoid plunging the Quartermaine family (and with it, ELQ) into further scandal. Lucy and Alan’s marriage was short-lived, and in 1991, Alan and Monica remarried.

In 1996, future lovers Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Robin Scorpio (Kimberly McCullough) had a fateful first meeting on the bridge on General Hospital. While Jason and Robin had known each other before he sustained a critical brain injury, this was their first encounter in the wake of his personality-altering accident. Jason asked Robin if they had known each other before, and she revealed that she’d had a crush on him when she was 13. Jason enjoyed his conversation with Robin, noting that she didn’t act like she missed the other version of him. That night, a special bond was born.

In 2014, Donna Mills made her General Hospital debut as Madeline Reeves, Nina Reeves’s mother, who would ultimately be revealed to be Liesl Obrecht’s sister, as well. The Knots Landing (ex-Abby) alum told Soap Opera Digest that Madeline was “very Upper East Side, she’s very social, sophisticated, powerful and smart [and] has a big secret.” The actress noted that she was convinced to join the show by Executive Producer Frank Valentini and then-Head Writer Ron Carlivati. “It sounded like it would be fun. He said he thought I was the only one who could play it. So, I said yes.”
